Life without Travel is incomplete! Every sport allows travelling and facing challenges at different places in the world. Which was the first International game of your life and how was the experience of visiting a new country?

Gaurav Bidhuri in conversation with Council of Royal Roots describes his first international game held in Yakuts in Russia in bone-chilling frosty weather around -56-degree celsius. "The harsh weather challenged me the most, it was tough for me to stay warm, but my practices routine helped me beat the weather and win the junior international match." He mentioned about various trips to different countries, but Russia has stayed close to his heart. Also, because of the thrilling nature of competitors of the home country. He was amazed by the undying spirit of the Yakuts people; they live happily despite the chilly weather. It does not ruin their bliss of playing, working during the six months of harsh weather.

How do you think Boxing has evolved from time to time as a sport?

Gaurav described that Boxing in the primitive days was used just for entertainment by the wealthy businessmen. They used labour as a participant and organised the fight. Slowly, it developed into a sport.

The Boxing fascinated lots of players, and slowly the game entered the Olympics and after that world has seen many legendary boxers. Today in India, Boxing has achieved a well know appreciation, because of the players like Mohammad Ali, Mary Kom, Vijendra Singh, Amit Panghal.

In your opinion, how Boxing or any sports help in developing the tourism economy?

Ans: People these days are very enthusiastic about sports. People feel pride in witnessing the live game, and when the Olympics or Commonwealth Games hosted by different countries, it helps in developing the tourism economy. He drew an example of his first international game at Yakuts which was in a remote area. The Boxing competition organised in Yakuts aimed to bring attention to the distant place and organising events in such places around the world would highlight the businesses and increase their economic growth. Even today,  the competitions are held in such remote areas because the government take the initiative to promote the place .Olympics and Commonwealth Games are the best time to encourage a developing area with the entire world to seek attention and attract tourism.

Which all countries have you visited to play Boxing? How does it feel to give competition to a boxer in his own country?

He added that he had visited most of the countries and some even twice, the particular thing that goes on in a different country is the psychological pressure that the locals emphasis and that excites him the most to win against the competitor in the opponent's country. Eventually, it opens an excellent opportunity to attract the crowd towards him. And if a match is a tremendous win, respect is welcomed by native country mates. He recalls that the Russian players are the most arrogant one unless they don't feel that the competitors are tough competition for them. They don't treat everyone the same; they love a challenge, and an opponent can only earn that respect by giving tough competition.

When did you realise Boxing is your passion? How much support did you receive support from family and Govt at the beginning of your boxing career?

He asserted that when he was a little kid playing around his father's boxing club. Watching the ring where his dad used to train the students, it thrilled him to learn and play the game. He always wanted to fulfil his father's dream and bring medals for the country—Gaurav's father who once was a national level boxer but left Boxing due to personal reasons. I, from a very young age, inculcated the passion for learning to box as a sport and prove myself.

Mr Gaurav Biduri who is a good player in many games but presenting himself in boxing competitions and winning in it brought him the passion for becoming a boxer, and after many years of playing and representing his country, Gaurav fulfilled his father's dream. All due to the support that he received from the family and the Indian government for his career.

As the world is dealing with Coronavirus, what would you like to say how boxing sport is dealing with it. What issues are the young players are facing due to it?

Every sports player in lockdown struggles to get proper training and sport like Boxing needs regular practice to keep going. Everyone needs to deal with it, and with passion and dedication, players can find the strength to keep on training. COVID has given us the chance to work on ourselves to know ourselves better. He believes that the new upcoming boxers and trainers are doing their best to keep themselves motivated through virtual practice sessions, utilising the technologies at it's best.

Gaurav informed us how he has been working out with the help of YouTube videos and has even motivated his subscriber, uploading his videos sessions. COVID is creating challenging scenarios, but nothing lasts forever. He believes training clubs will open soon with the proper measures of hygiene.

You are an inspiration and ambassador to a program like Fit India Campaign. How do you feel such an initiative helps people of every age?

Gaurav regards that fitness as a priceless possession that people can't buy, but it allows people to take care of themselves and if one prefers to live energetically, then he/she must do some exercise, today the entire world is fighting with COVID Virus. Our Prime Minister keeps us encouraged and reminds us to be fit at regular intervals.

Fit India Movement is a nation-wide movement in India to encourage people to remain healthy and fit by including physical activities and sports in their daily lives. FIT India movement is necessary for increasing the awareness of the need for a healthy life among every citizen.

As a human being, which social cause is close to your heart and why?

He believes preserving our history is like holding are true identity and thriving for the future helps grow fearlessly.
